Clean data in. Accepted records out.

Most GUDID problems don't start in the database. They start earlier, when device data is spread across ERP systems, label files and someone's spreadsheet. We fix that first, then submit for you.

How we collect UDI data.

Every project starts with a structured data collection template. It covers 81 data elements for each device. We fill it in with you, check it against your labels, and then submit it to GUDID (and EUDAMED) for you.

GUDID questions we hear every week.

Q01What is GUDID?
The FDA Global Unique Device Identification Database holds the key identification information for devices that carry a UDI. Labelers submit device identifier (DI) records, and the public can search them through AccessGUDID.
Q02Who has to submit?
The labeler, usually the manufacturer, is responsible for submitting DI records for devices that require a UDI under 21 CFR Part 830. A third-party submitter can do the submission on the labeler's behalf.
Q03Web interface or HL7 SPL?
Small portfolios are often entered through the GUDID web interface. Larger portfolios use HL7 SPL XML submissions. We recommend the route that fits your volume and change frequency.
Q04What happens when a device changes?
Some changes are simple record edits. Others, such as a change in brand or version or model, require a new DI. Our data template flags which changes trigger a new DI.
Q05Does the label have to match?
Yes. What is printed on the label, including the DI, brand and model, must match the GUDID record. We check that field by field and can also design and print the label.
